Birds
One of six fingerboards and four bodies done for a Japanese company between March and June. They're going to cut the fret slots when they get them back. |
Dragons
| One of two dragon necks and bodies for another Japanese company around the same timeframe. |
Floral
A random vine pattern. I wish the slots didn't need to be cut. This looks good just the way it is. |
Grapes
Grapes and songbirds. The grapes are cut from black mother of pearl. Must be merlot vines. |
Klein
This vine is on my Klein guitar. The vine itself is 18k gold and the flowers are black abalone. All leaves were cut from red abalone. |
Martin Guitars
The history of flight was done for CF Martin. I wanted it to coincide with the hundredth anniversary of the Wright brothers' flight (2003), but 2002 was a busy year, finishing Martin #1,000,000 as well as a second Peacock Martin. |
Nouveau 1
A lovely Nouveau theme in thin ivory, kingwood hair, gold dust and silver framing. |
Nouveau 2
This is the body that went with the previous fingerboard. |
Rose
Rose vine where all the roses are cut from different material. |
Fujigen
All six Fujigen boards ready to ship. |
SS1
An Olson guitar commemorating the successful flight of SS1, the first private spacecraft that won the $10 million X-1 Prize. The guitar is owned by test pilot and VP of Scaled Composites, Doug Shane. |
Signature
Some of my jobs are decidedly on the smaller size throughout the year. This is luthier Roy McAlister's signature. |
Warrior
One of my all time favorites, this warrior went on a peghead for a Chinese guitar company. |
